Days gone by

Unread post by Fred99 »

Clearing some old camera gear from the loft and found these long forgotten test print jems tucked away in an enlarger. If you don't know what an enlarger is, you won't understand the significance of this trip down memory lane.

Scanned them for you all to see. Isn't modern technology wonderful?

Those were the days. Note the ordinary sleeper earrings. (Must have been less than 1mm)

Self done home piercings with darning needles were the norm in the 1960s, even for ears, or perhaps you could find a jewellers after hours in another town if you knew where to go, but nobody would tell you, and who else did you know to ask who was as depraved as you?

No digital cameras in those days, and no developing at the chemist, they would have called the police then if you tried to get topless pics done.

But, if you had your own black and white darkroom and a good camera, and let word get round that you were very discreet, you might be invited round to record the kinky stuff for posterity. Give them the negatives, and time for them to feel confident that you had not told anyone else, and you might be asked again.

Tattoo shops were few and far between, and no place for a woman, certainly not for a tattoo like this. She certainly had guts for this tattoo. I was not there to see who did it, only to do the picture at home later when it was healed. It is interesting to see that the rings had healed perfectly in the later picture.

Trouble is, taking these photographs started me off on a lifetime interest.
Thank god for the Internet and all you posters out there.

Sorry for the rambling introduction. I know you are only interested in getting to the pics!

Well done indeed Fred 99- thanks for the effort with scanning these old pics.
Maybe you could scan and post some colour ones from the early - mid eighties too?
Great stuff keep up the good work.
My Dad had an enlarger and dark room years ago - wonder what may lurk in the loft with the boxes of negatives and prints then!!??

Rob,

Sadly, I never graduated to colour. Too expensive to set up.

This was the only "customer" in my private developing "business" that had bodyart. It was really very rare in those days.

Most of us learned to develop our own for one reason only, and it wasn't just to to save money! Your dad was probably a bigger perve than you realise!

Best wishes
Fred
