hard to say. I'd imagine it's hard to tattoo a nipple while the jewelry is in the way and I imagine for healing it might need to be out for a few days.

I have nipple tattoos, which is no problem at all. The piercings were removed for the tattooing. After the tattooing, however, they could be reinserted immediately. The healing process was just like any other tattoo; everything healed well after about two weeks. The ink didn't cover the nipples very well the first time, so I had the tattoo touched up again after about three years.
