We agree. My wife and I both love split tongues. She just recently pierced her tongue and have already stretched it some, we are going for a 0g and then split, so we will have a good healed area where the split will go to so we do not have to worry about the split healing back up. Like they want to do.

At first, but only a little. Once the tongue is healed--within a few weeks--your speech is back to normal. The coordinating muscles in the tongue are not severed.
