hello again everyone and thank you again for the complements. ive been working on enlarging the rings and doing well so far. (pics soon) we will soon be adding more labia rings and my question is has anyone used a six gage needle vs the smaller ones? most piercing shops wont use needles that large as they claim it scars......im not concerned about scarring as im not taking them out. i like the idea of not having to let them heal six weeks and then starting the slow stretching process. hoping someone can enlighten me as to the pros and cons of large gauge initial piercings. thanks again ss

It is nice to finally have something to contribute.

According to none other than Jim Ward, from "back in th' day" (early-mid eighties), all things considered, larger pierces heal faster (proportionately), heal better, and usually heal more predictably (less likelihood of odd cysts and nodules forming) than do smaller gauge pierces.

Consider it this way:

A smaller hole is more like a puncture wound - the most likely wound to get infected.

The larger hole begins to resemble what it really is - a scalpelled surgical incision with intentions of inducing permanent plastic tissue deformation as desired.

Big ones hurt more, more intensely, but generally less total time. Little holes sometimes take the better part of a year.

A 25 mm Labret surgery will be good as gold in a few months - with a hole that is shockingly huge...

From a personal point of view: Bigger holes get more done quicker - if you are serious about it.
