Wow, do I remember this.

I was barely out of high school, the thought of girls piercing their ears, let alone their nipples, gave me a raging hard on. I had never even heard the word fetish let alone knew that I had one.

I saw her profile in a biker magazine. I'm pretty sure it was 1984. About 6 months before I had first seen pierced nipples in the same magazine and I kept checking back to see others. Unknown to me, I was encouraging the beginnings of a life time fetish.

When I saw Lisa's pictures, I didn't even see the tattoos...all I saw were those nipples. In the interview she said she added rings because she wanted to artisticily rebalance the roundness to her breasts after the straight lines from the flames and stars. I remember thinking how beautifully round her breast were regardless. Then the interview text said she took a train 2.5 hours into Chicago to get her nipples pierced. I was just in disbelief. Girls were just beginning to get second piercings in their ears then. Claire's trademark slogan was "Pierced Ears....Two is New". I was in college. Nipple piercings were just over the top for me. To think that this girl had the single minded dedication to travel over 2 hours to pierce her nipples, not just her ears, I just could hardly imagine. What thoughts go through your head as you travel 2 hours to get your nipples pierced? How did it begin for her? How did she decide? Did she do it alone?

I remember touching and feeling my then girlfriend's pierced ears, pierced for only 6 months before I met her, the softness of her ear but the rigidity of the piercing. This was 1982...how do you even begin to describe to someone for whom pierced ears was an act of parental rebellion that what you really crave it to feel that softness of her breasts co-mingled with the punctured rigidness of a ring through her nipple. Today, we see pierced nipples in the newspaper in adverts for "Girl With a Dragon Tattoo" and it draws no advserse inference at all. Then, there was no role model. When Lisa pierced her nipples, who showed her the way? Who gave her the courage to say that this was beautiful? Who gave permission to young men to accept her beauty rather than to critique her unique choices?

I have had the privilege to have meet and appreciated 2 women who allowed me to share in the piercing of their nipples. One encouraged me to do mine, now stretched to 6 ga.

Lisa, when I first saw your pictures, I didn't always know how to deal emotionally with the feelings that your piercings triggered in me. Had I met you, I have no doubt that I would have been incapable of actually starting a conversation with you. The fact that you had initiated such a directly sexual modification, the tattooing of breasts and piercing of nipples, triggered a response that I did not know how to deal with. As I've aged, however, I appreciate your beauty and I respect your courage. I guess that's how it is with all us....we are not always ready to deal with where we are individually at when exposed to another's personal uniqueness but given time and familiarity, we begin to not only appreciate but embrace the person behind the art.

That being said, I still find Lisa's pierced nipples to be as sexy as hell and I'm having some of those same stirrings as I first felt 20 years ago.

I have no idea how our brains are wired such that some things trigger responses but for me it's always been piercings and 25 years ago Lisa was just over the top for me. I thought, and still think ,that she was so beautiful and I hope that life treated her kindly.
