What a loss it was when Yahoo Groups were shut down (for many communities, not just piercing etc.).

So true. A lot of stories and niche resources vanished with the various waves of corporations deeming online communities "disposable." Tumblr going prude-mode lost us all a ton of odd and quirky modification collections. Even when it wasn't corporations, just loosing things like BME and IAM were huge losses as well. There's not much left to tie extreme modification people together anymore. It feels so fragmented. I know I've probably missed out on knowing about some crazy mods that fall under my interest since the 2000s. My interest was always bizarre and highly impractical modifications on women work full time, despite the discomforts and troubles they cause. It was always hard to find, but despite more people than ever online, I feel less likely to stumble across content in my areas of interest. I'm sure a lot of you feel the same.

I fully agree, a lot of freedom has already been taken from us and i am afraid it only will get worse
Some 40 years ago i saw a girl with her lips covered with rings, think they were spaced about 5mm apart and snug over her lips, upper and lower, they looked like real piercings with bcr,s, but that encounter triggered my fascination for piercings..

It's interesting you mention that. I think in a way some aspects of modifications have become more extreme, but in others, there was a kind of unspoken agreement on certain modifications as acceptable and the innovations slowed down. One example is where piercings should and shouldn't be, or "acceptable" configurations. Which I understand in a way, as a kind of body art peer pressure settled in and discouraged the more experimental ones. I saw a girl once in the 90s with a tongue piercing with a ring and two chains from it, one to each earlobe. It was so wild and, maybe like you, got me thinking about the really wild crazy stuff, and I think started my interest in intentionally impractical modifications. Hopefully we see more of a move toward more extreme and experimental things again. I just worry that if there are some girls like that out there, I'm missing out because of the fragmentation.
